EgyptAir Flight MS804: Possible black box signals detected today

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 10 February 2017, 1:50 IST

A French ship reportedly picked up signals from deep under the Mediterranean today, which have been presumed to be from the black boxes of the crashed EgyptAir aircraft. Flight MS804 had gone off radar on 19 May, 2016. The crash killed all 66 - passengers and crew - aboard.

Search teams have been searching for the wreckage ever since.

According to media reports, the update was confirmed by Egypt's Civil Aviation Ministry.

Officials also reportedly confirmed that a second ship, John Lethbridge, affiliated with the Deep Ocean Search firm, will join the search team later this week.

The teams narrowed their search radius to just three miles last week after detecting signals from the aircraft's fuselage.

The international search has so far involved ships and aircraft from Britain, Cyprus, France, Greece and the US.
