A British man fell and died while taking pictures at a temple in India.

56-year-old, Roger Stotesbury while, visiting Orchha town of Madhya Pradesh with his wife, died after he plummeted 30ft (9m) from the Laxmi Narayan temple, reported the Independent.

The incident took place when Stotesbury's the documentary maker had just finished taking some shots of the scenery from a temple in Orchha.

The couple, on their "middle-aged gap year", had to return to the UK after completing their Indian adventure.

"Roger took lots and lots of photographs, and he had gone to take some views from the temple," said a family spokesman.

"He put his equipment down and then he fell," he added.

The couple has planned a two-month tour and started their tour with Italy, followed by South and North America, Australia and several Asian countries. India was their final stop.

The couple had also posted pictures of Taj Mahal on their website, a day before the tragedy.
