Kerala: 12 coaches of Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Express derail, no casualties

Hundreds of passengers travelling in the Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Express had a narrow escape as 12 compartments of the train derailed in the wee hours of 28 August.

No casualties were reported. The incident occurred around 2:30 am when the train derailed between Aluva and Karukutty stations in Ernakulam district after leaving from Thiruvanathapuram at 8:40 pm.

The stranded passengers were then ferried in buses and local trains to Kochi and Mangalore.

Meanwhile, all trains in the route have been halted at various stations.

Railways said that passengers can ask for refunds for their incomplete trip. Those who made online bookings will get automatic refund.
