'Comedy Night With Kapil' could soon be 'Comedy Nights with Karan Johar'. Yes, the filmmaker, who recently tried acting in 'Bombay Velvet' might be on his way to trying stand-up comedy.
According to a report published in Hindustan Times, Bollywood director and producer Karan Johar, has been roped in to host the show.
Is there too much of Karan Johar on television?
Johar has lately become a full-time television personality. From hosting award functions to judging reality shows - his presence on small-screen is all pervasive.
If he does host 'Comedy Nights', viewers would get a double dose of him as he is also judging dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa with Shahid Kapoor, on the same channel.
Multiple anchors
Media reports also suggest that the producers of 'Comedy Nights' are thinking of roping in more than one anchor for the show. Bollywood director and choreographer Farah Khan and her brother Sajid Khan are possible options.
What, however, is sad is the fact that the makers of the show could not find a single stand-up comic who could replace Sharma.
It would be interesting to see how Johar shapes the show, which is known for its quirky female characters played by male actors.
