If you crave for a big screen phone but have a small pocket, then worry no more. After introducing the world to the curved display, Samsung plans to go a step further. Reportedly in the works for a couple of years, Samsung will usher in the 'foldable' display trend as early as January next year. Samsung has shown off protoypes and videos of the display at tech events and it is close to being a reality.

Here is a concept video released back in 2013:

In a report from SamMobile, a trusted Samsung rumor blog, sources say that the foldable device under the codename Project Valley is currently being tested in China. One model runs on the Snapdragon 620 processor and the other is running with a faster Snapdragon 820 processor. The device may feature 3GB of RAM, a microSD slot, and a non-removable battery. The report goes on to suggest that Samsung is using this concept to test the upcoming Snapdragon 820 processor. The processor will most definitely be used in Samsung's next flagship phone, the Galaxy S7, expected to be launched during th Mobile World Congress in February 2016.

It is a paper-like display and produces the same picture quality even if users bend it. The core of the technology is to display objects as accurately as possible and maximize portability by making it as light as possible. The foldable display is made of layers of lights using organic light emitting diodes (OLED) technology. It features touch sensors, meaning it works as a touchscreen at every angle and curvatures,

Project Valley was first reported back in June. Then the smartphone was in the "extremely early stages of development." A week after that report, a patent surfaced, hinting at a dual-display handset that would open and close via a hinge.
