Shocking: Rape videos uploaded online and being sold for Rs 50-150 in Uttar Pradesh markets

In shops across Uttar Pradesh, rape videos are being sold in large numbers. The most shocking fact - this all is happening right under the nose of the UP Police and administration. As per the reports, hundreds and even thousands of copies are being sold each day.

Depending on the "exclusivity" of the clip, which ranges from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, the price of the video is determined. The videos are priced somewhere between Rs 50 to 150.

In a report by The Times of India, a shopkeeper from the Kasganj market exclaims - "Porn is passe. These real life crimes are the rage. Dealers will download videos directly into your smart phone or put them in your pen drive."

The deal takes place under the counter and dealers only interact those who've come armed with trusted customers. The report further reveals that individuals and even organised gangs download such content from Twitter or Facebook accounts and sell them.

Many involved in the crime shoot the videos and upload them online.

"At another shop, a man is telling teenagers that they might even know the girl in the "latest, hottest" video. In the horrifying clip, two men have pinned down a girl, who looks like she is in her early 20s. Her boyfriend is being beaten up. "Maaf karo, maaf karo (Spare me)," he is crying. The girl pleads, "Kam se kam, video toh mat utaaro (At least don't shoot a video)"," describes the report of a harrowing tale.

Such videos are mostly shot on phone and are then used as a blackmailing tool to either bully the victims or to prevent them from going to the cops.

When the police receive intel about such deals, they conduct raids and have even arrested one for selling such explicit videos and pirated films.

Such rape videos are easily available in the market and are well within the reach of people looking for them.

Other states in the country are dealing with similar issues. A 21-year-old girl from the Salem district in Tamil Nadu committed suicide after her morphed nude photo was uploaded on Facebook.
