Flipkart is selling OnePlus 3 for Rs 18,999; OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei tweets 'what's this?'

Flipkart has been flashing a OnePlus 3 banner since Friday, a rather unfamiliar sight. The banner is listing the sale of OnePlus 3 for below Rs 20,000. Flipkart has detailed that the smartphone is available for Rs 18,999, which is Rs 9,000 lower than the price of the phone as listed on Amazon India, the exclusive retail partner for the smartphone.

The sale of the smartphone commenced at 4 pm on 18 December.

However, here are some facts you should know:

OnePlus has an exclusive tie-up with Amazon and not Flipkart to sell its smartphones in India. The banner of OnePlus 3 also surprised OnePlus Co-Founder and CEO Carl Pei himself, who took to Twitter seeking clarification.

Since Pei's tweet, neither Flipkart nor any of the Bansal brothers have responded. Gadget 360 quoted Flipkart as saying, "Flipkart is a marketplace which helps sellers connect with customers across the country. All our sellers are mandated to adhere to stringent guidelines. The prices and discounts for all our sales are decided by the participating sellers and brands."

It is still unclear whether the product being sold is genuine or not.

OnePlus has cautioned interested buyers against the sale saying, "We have an exclusive partnership with Amazon in India. We advice customers to purchase OnePlus products only through official channels as we cannot guarantee the authenticity of the products sold elsewhere."

For those who are interested in buying OnePlus 3 at such a discounted price, Flipkart is the go-to site. However, make sure that you look for warranty and a real deal.
