Mahindra Group chairman, Anand Mahindra recently invested in SheThePeople.TV - a popular digital storytelling platform for women.

The start-up, founded by award-winning journalist, Shaili Chopra, has been garnering massive accolades.

The platform aims to provide a much-needed media space and ecosystem for women achievers and is dedicated to championing and promoting their success stories.

Since its inception, SheThePeople.TV has profiled stories of nearly 10,000 inspiring women, who are entrepreneurs, authors, game-changers, sportspersons, corporate executives and more. It has been able to offer networking opportunities to over 1,00,000 women via conferences, meets, and other events.

Catch spoke to Shaili Chopra to get a better insight into the future expansion plans of the company, area of work, market response and more.

Here are some excerpts from the interview:

Can you share some of your plans for SheThePeople.TV?

We aim to have a massive reach. The biggest challenge is to get more people on our platform. There are women out there who are doing tremendous work. We are planning to expand as we know that video is the future medium.

We want to expand in other regional languages as well to increase our outreach. We want to open up more opportunities for women in the age group of 20-40, who have the hunger for ambition, women with opinion and passion. Better networking is our focus.

We also plan to go big with tier-2 cities, give women more opportunities and help them network with other women. The challenge is to get more women on board who are career-oriented and are already running a start-up.

How has the market response been so far?

The response has been tremendous. SheThePeople.TV was an official partner in the government's prime program for entrepreneurs - Start-Up India and for the start-up initiative at Make In India week in Mumbai.

We aim to be a dedicated online channel for women.

How did the public respond to your platform?

It has been amazing. A very interesting point to highlight here is that women from across the country have subscribed to our platform. They log in and watch the videos. We plan to reach more women for video engagement. We keep a tab on demographics and geographical locations. We aim to be the richest and most coherent platform for women all over.
