World T20: India narrowly lose to South Africa by 3 runs in exciting match at Wankhede

It was a case of so close and yet so far for the Indian cricket team in their second warm up match against South Africa at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, ahead of the upcoming ICC World T20.

South Africa posted a mammoth total of 196 in the first innings, as the Indian bowlers had a day to forget. Only Jasprit Bumrah shined in the bowling department, picking up three wickets. After what should serve to be a timely wake up call for the Indian bowlers, the batsmen begun the chase.

But the top order disappointed too. Rohit Sharma perished for just ten runs after his heroics in the last warm up match against the West Indies, while Virat Kohli lost his wicket for one run. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan top scored for the Indian team with a score of 73 off just 53 balls. After forming some good partnerships in the middle overs, it was left to Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh in the end to take India over the line.

Despite their best efforts, the team fell three runs short, but lost 4 fewer wickets than South Africa. There are still plenty of positives to take from the match, the Indian batting performance being one of them, along with the good form of Jasprit Bumrah.

It's all over now to the main stage of the tournament, to see how the teams fare.
