Four persons including two Ranji Trophy cricket players have been arrested for hunting endangered black bucks in Sagar on 11 January. All of them were booked under Wildlife Conservation Act.

According to media reports, former Ranji Trophy player Mehmood Khana and his son Rameej, who is presently a member of the Madhya Pradesh Ranji trophy team, along with two others were caught in Pamakhedi village, about 20 kilometres from Sagar district headquarters.

Mehmood is also a member of the MP Cricket Association and a level -1 cricket coach. His son plays as an all-rounder. All the accused are residents of Sagar.

District forest officer Surya Prakash Tiwari told TOI over the phone from Sagar that " black bucks often stray away from jungle for grazing in villages (sic). The antelope was killed near Devas River."
