Rajasthan's Education Minister Vasudev Devnani said on Sunday that Jawaharlal Nehru's name had not been omitted from the new Class VIII Social Science textbook, but was "still there on page 91 and page 177".

The minister was reacting to a controversy created by the new textbook which made no mention of Nehru being a leader in the freedom movement and India's first Prime Minister.

Devnani said it should not matter which chapters mentioned Nehru as long as he was mentioned.

The reference on page 91, in the chapter titled 'Our Constitution' mentions Nehru presenting the objectives resolution, while the reference on page 177 says that Nahru "inaugurated" a step on the course to Rajasthan's unification, according to The Indian Express.
