Bihar arts 'topper' arrested after failing re-test, sent to judicial custody

The Bihar arts topper who blew the lid off the education scam in the state when she called political science 'prodigal science' in an interview after the class 12 exam results were declared was sent on Sunday to judicial custody till 8 July.

Ruby Rai was arrested on Friday after failing a re-test at the office of the Bihar State Examination Board. She had been asked 12 questions from the syllabus by a seven-member committee from the board, and failed to answer any, says ANI.

Her result was then cancelled and she was arrested.

In a TV interview after the exam results were declared, Rai had said political science was about cooking. According to her examination results, she had done extremely well in political science.

According to BSEB chairman Anand Kishore, Rai was unable to answer even a sample question from the syllabus in her re-test.

On 4 June, the board had cancelled the results of two intermediate science toppers, after they failed re-tests.
