If you are planning to head out somewhere on January 31, 2018 then it might be possible that you will have to shed all your plans because as per the latest reports, a very unusual astronomical event is going to take place and that too after a gap of 150 years and yes we are talking about a total blue lunar eclipse and you will get to see a 'super blue-blood moon' on January 31.
It is being said that this will be a very unique process that was seen 152 years ago on March 31, 1866 and will not be seen for 11 years until December 31, 2028. The sky will witness a combination of three moons viz a super moon, a blue moon and a blood moon in the sky. The super moon occurs when the moon is very close to the earth. Talking about the blue moon and the blood moon, the former is the second full moon that takes place in a monthe while the later is the red colour in which the moon appears when it is at the peak of the lunar eclipse.
A research scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Noah Petro, during a telephonic interview given to the Indian Express said, “Just having these three things simultaneously occur is unusual. A blue moon is not extremely rare but it’s a nice coincidence that it happens in conjunction with these other two.”
Noah, further in his statements said that the lunar eclipse will begin when the moon will pass the shadow of the earth. The timing of its beginning will be around 6:48 am and will last for about three and a half hour. In Delhi, the eclipse is set to begin at 5:53 PM and will last for about 3 hours and 45 minutes which means it will end around 9:38 PM.
Photographers and space enthusiasts are really excited for the event to take place because since the eclipse is going to take place during the sunset, it is being said that the sky will turn bloody red during that time and will be a one time watch for everyone.
Many public and private organizations too are excited for the same and have organized a sky-gazing session for the same. As per reports by the Times Of India. People are excited to view such an amazing scenes because a lunar eclipse can be witnessed with a naked eye.
