Wow! Rajinikanth's Baashha to re-release after 21 years

Rajinikanth fans have a huge reason to rejoice as one of their idol's blockbuster films, Baashha, is all set to release again soon. Yes, it has been confirmed that the Thalaivar starrer, a 1995 blockbuster, is slated to hit the screens 21 years after its theatrical release.

The good news was revealed by film producer TG Thyagarajan, son-in-law of Baashha producer, RM Veerappan.

In a recent interview to a leading daily, Thyagarajan was quoted as saying;

"Yes, RM Veerappan is planning to release the digitized version of Rajinikanth Sir's Baashha. The negatives had been restored when the Hindi dubbed version was released earlier. Now, the mastering of songs by Deva is complete with DTS, and the re-recording in 5.1 surround sound and other works are underway. The release date and other important will be shared by RM Veerappan.

Baashha is touted as a landmark film in Rajinikanth's career. The action entertainer shows Rajinikanth in two different avatars; a simple auto-rickshaw driver, Manikkam, who then becomes a gangster called Manik Baashha. The Suresh Krrisna-directorial impressed the masses and classes alike and went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year. The film has been praised for Deva's music as well for three chart busters, Naan Autokaaran, Style Style Thaan and Azhagu Azhagu. By the end of its theatrical run, Baashha minted a massive Rs 25 crore, which was an unbelievable feat in early '90s.
