Villain: Satellite rights of Mohanlal - Bajrangi Bhaijaan maker's film sold for second all-time record price after Pulimurugan

The release date of Mohanlal's upcoming film Villain is yet-to-be announced, but the film has already proved to be a money spinner for its maker, Rockline Venkatesh of Rajinikanth's Lingaa and Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Directed by B Unnikrishnan, the film also marks the debut Malayalam production venture of Rockline Venkatesh.

Catch had previously reported that the music rights of Villain have been acquired by Junglee Music for a all-time Malayalam record price of 50 lakh.

And now, Villain has once again strikes gold for its makers.

The satellite rights of the stylish thriller have been sold to Malayalam TV channel, Surya TV for a massive price of Rs. 7 crore. The film is now only next to Mohanlal blockbuster Pulimurugan in the list of Malayalam films with highest price for satellite rights. Pulimurugan's satellite rights were sold for a record price of Rs. 10 crore.

Villain stars Mohanlal in the titular role of a retired cop, Mathew Manjooran whereas Manju Warrier will be seen as his wife. The film also marks the Malayalam debut of Tamil actors Vishal, Hansika Motwani and Telugu actress Raashi Khanna of Madras Cafe fame.
