Mollywood is all set to witness a high-voltage Box Office clash between megastars Mammootty and Mohanlal this Eid, with the release of their films Kasaba and Pulimurugan, respectively. Tamil film aficionados are also in for an exciting Box Office battle this festive season. This Diwali will see a Box Office clash between Ilayathalapathy's Vijay 60 and Chiyaan Vikram's Garuda.

The makers of Vijay 60 are looking to replicate the success of the Theri star's previous Diwali releases, Thuppakki in 2012 and Kaththi in 2014 - which were huge hits at the Box Office.

According to the latest reports, the much-awaited Vikram-starrer, Garuda is also slated to release on Diwali 2016 - paving the path for Kollywood's biggest Box Office clash of the year so far.

The two stars are known for their fierce Box Office battles. On 12 April, 2002, the Vikram-starrer Gemini won the Box Office battle against Vijay's film Thamizhan. But Vijay hit back in 2005, when his film Sivakasi overpowered Vikram's Majaa in yet another Box Office clash.

Vijay 60 will be directed by Bharathan, who penned the script for Vijay's 2004 hit film Ghilli. He has earlier directed Vijay in his first dual role in the film, Azhagiya Tamil Magan.

Touted to be an action-family entertainer, Vijay 60 will star Keerthy Suresh - of Rajini Murugan fame - as the female lead. The film also stars Aparna Vinod, Jagapati Babu, YG Mahendraa and Daniel Balaji. The music for Vijay 60 will be composed by Santhosh Narayanan and the film will be produced under the banner of Vijaya Productions.

Garuda is touted to be an action-packed entertainer. The makers have roped in renowned stunt director Anal Arasu to choreograph the stunts. The film will also see the Kollywood debut of music composer Girinandh, while the cinematography will be handled by Richard R Nathan. The film, which stars Kajal Aggarwal and Karunas, will also feature Bollywood director-turned-actor Mahesh Manjrekar playing the antagonist. Garuda also stars veteran actor Nassar.
