The makers of Rajinikanth's Kabali launched the Telugu music album of the film in Hyderabad on 27 June.

The Telugu version of the Santhosh Narayanan album has been making the rounds on social media. Kabali, directed by Pa Ranjith, has been produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his banner, V Creations.

Many know that the film will see Rajinikanth play the role of an ageing don. However, during the media interaction at the launch of the Telugu album, director Ranjith made a surprise announcement. He said:

"Rajini sir will be seen in the ageing look for just about 20 minutes in Kabali. For the rest of the film, he will be seen as 80s Rajinikanth. I fell back on his '80s look' to style the young Rajini."

The director also added that the look of the younger Rajinikanth in the film was inspired by his appearance in the 1978 romance-drama Mullum Malarum.

The release date of Kabali will be announced on 1 July.
