Salman Khan's faith in south Indian hits is well known. The actor has been part of many south Indian film remakes, including from his 90's blockbusters, Judwaa, Bandhan to his recent hits Bodyguard, Ready and Kick. Most of his top grossers were all remakes of Telugu hits.
The success of Wanted - the remake of Telugu blockbuster Pokiri - came as a relief for Salman Khan as he was going through a lean period at the box office at the time. The Prabhu Deva-directorial broke the Box Office jinx, which saw Salman deal with 12 flops in between No Entry and Wanted with Partner being his sole hit during the period. Wanted went on to become the second biggest grosser of 2009. The original film, directed by Puri Jagannadh, starred Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead role.
And now, after 7-year-long gap, the Bollywood superstar is all set to remake another Puri Jagannadh film, Rogue. Interestingly, Rogue is yet-to-be-released, and there are reports that Salman was highly impressed with the story and is planning to remake the film in Hindi with Sooraj Pancholi as the main lead. The film also marks the second collaboration of Salman Khan - Sooraj Pancholi duo after the later's debut film Hero, produced under the banner of Salman Khan Films.
A team of writers are working on Hindi remake of Rogue and it will go onto floors soon, a source from the unit said.
