Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is on a record-breaking spree. After becoming the first Indian actor to deliver three all-time blockbusters within a span of 60-theatrical days, the four-time-National-award-winning actor has now achieved another unbelievable feat.
Catch had earlier reported that Mohanlal's last three releases, Telugu film Janatha Garage, Malayalam films Oppam and Pulimurugan have been decalred all-time-blockbusters at the Box Office in two months.
And now, Lalettan has equalled Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's record to deliver two successive Rs 100 crore grossers in quick succession. Interestingly, The Complete Actor recorded back-to-back Rs 100 hits (Janatha Garage, Pulimurugan) within a span of 67-theatrical days while the Bollywood Khiladi took the same number of days to record two Rs 100 crore hits (Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore) in the year 2012.
Another interesting fact is that both the superstars are enjoying a dream 2016 with their respective releases. Like Mohanlal, Akshay too had three back-to-back hits this year with Airlift, Housefull 3 and Rustom and the latter two had emerged as Rs 100 crore hits in 80-theatrical days.
Here's a look at the top three Indian film actors with back-to-back Rs 100 crore hits in quick succession:
1) Akshay Kumar - Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore - 67 days - 2012
Mohanlal - Janatha Garage & Pulimurugan - 67 days - 2016
2) Akshay Kumar - Housefull 3 & Rustom - 80 days - 2016
