Sairat Box Office: Nagraj Manjule film becomes highest grossing Marathi film of all time

Sairat has raised the bar for Marathi cinema at the Box Office. It has become the highest grossing Marathi film of all time in merely 11 days of its release on 29 April.

The total collections of the Nagraj Manjule-directorial currently stands close to Rs 50 crore (as of 11 May 2016).

The film, which released alongside Baaghi, recorded near 100 per cent occupancy in its opening weekend. Occupancy dropped to 75 to 80 per cent over the weekdays.

After raking in week one collections of Rs 25.50 crore, the film overtook Nana Patekar's Natsamrat to become the highest Marathi grosser of all time.

The film is still performing exceptionally at Maharashtra and is sure to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in the next few days.

List of all-time Marathi grossers:

Sairat (2016): Rs 47 crore and counting

Natsamrat (2016): Rs 36 crore

Lai Bhaari (2014): Rs 32 crore

Time Pass 2 (2015): Rs 31 crore

Duniyadaari: Rs 25 crore

Sairat has to its credit critical acclaim and overwhelming word-of-mouth. The same has translated well into sales at the ticket window.

The film released on 400 to 500 screens across Maharashtra and collected nearly Rs 12.57 crore in its second weekend as against the opening weekend collections of Rs 12.10 crore.
