Mohanlal's Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol had a record opening weekend, emerges second top Malayalam film after Pulimurugan

​Last Friday saw the release of Mohanlal's first release of 2017, ​​​​Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol. Directed by ​​Vellimoonga fame Jibu Jacob and produced by Sophia Paul under the banner of Weekend Blockbusters​, the film is fourth ​Mohanlal release ​in a span of 142-calendar-days. The actor's last three films, Telugu film Janatha Garage and Malayalam films Oppamand Pulimurugan were hits at the Box Office.

And as expected, the Malayalam actor continued his run as ​​​​​Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol opened to record breaking collections at the Box Office. The film is said to have earned a Rs. 2.58 crore on its opening day. On Sunday, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol​ is said to have grossed Rs. 3.25 crore​at the Box Office. On its opening weekend, ​Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol​ is said to have earned Rs. 8.70 crore at the Kerala box office.
