Telugu-film Brahmotsavam hit the screens on 20 May. While the big-budget Mahesh Babu film was riding high on the buzz surrounding it, it bombed at the Box Office, registering poor collections throughout the week.
Following the debacle, disappointed fans of superstar were seen blaming the director, Srikanth Addala as the reason for the film's underperformance. A number of fans took to Twitter to slam Addala.
But Mahesh Babu seems to have had enough. He has asked his fans to stop blaming his director for the debacle.
"I don't think my director has to be blamed for Brahmotsavam's failure, because I take the full responsibility of my film's failure. A film might work or not work due to various reasons. It was my decision to select director Srikanth Addala for the film and I think my judgment was wrong," he said.
Touted to be a family entertainer, Brahmotsavam marked the second collaboration of director-actor duo, Srikanth Addala and Mahesh Babu after their blockbuster outing Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chetto.
The film had everything going in its favour and Tollywood stars and fans were expecting a spectacular response for Brahmotsavam. But Brahmotsavam completed its first week at the Box Office with collections of Rs 33 crore.
