This week saw the release of three major Onam releases at the Kerala Box Office - namely, Mohanlal-starrer Oppam, Vikram's Iru Mugan and Prithviraj's Oozham.
As expected, the Mohanlal-starrer won the opening day battle. All three films managed to cross the Rs 1 crore mark on the opening day.
Oppam, directed by Priyadarshan, minted a terrific Rs 1.56 crore on its opening day to become the top Onam opener of the day, despite losing a few screens to Vikram's Iru Mugan. The film has been praised for its plot. Mohanlal's performance in Oppam is said to be his best after Drishyam.
Vikram's Iru Mugan raked in Rs 1.25 crore on its opening day at the Kerala Box Office. It will be interesting to see how the film will perform after the weekend as many Malayalam films will eat into the screens for Iru Mugan after Onam.
Meanwhile, Prithviraj's Oozham - directed by Jeetu Joseph of Drishyam fame - minted Rs 1.23 crore on its opening day. The positive reviews will help the film record a steady weekend run.
