Kerala Box Office: Sultan, Kasaba, Anuraga Karikkin Vellam complete 50 day run at ticket window

The Eid 2016 weekend saw the release of five films at the Kerala Box Office. Viewers were spoilt for choice between the Mammooty-starrer Kasaba, the Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya-starrer Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum, Manju Warrier's Karinkunnam Sixes, Biju Menon and Asif Ali's Anuraga Karikkin Vellam and Bollywood film Sultan starring Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma.

Sultan, Kasaba and Anuraga Karikkin Vellam have successfully completed 50 days of their theatrical run at the Kerala Box Office. Here's how they fared:

Kasaba

Kasaba set the Kerala Box Office on fire when it released on 7 July. The Mammootty-starrer collected a record-breaking Rs 2.45 crore on its opening day. The film benefited from the four-day holiday weekend to mint over Rs 10 crore in its opening week itself.

Fifty days after its release, the film is still screening on over ten centers across Kerala.

Anuraga Karikkin Vellam

The biggest surprise hit of 2016 at the Malayalam Box Office, Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, completed 50 days of its theatrical run on 25 August.

Unlike Kasaba, the opening of the Khalid Rahman-directorial was strictly average. The film also struggled to hold on its own during its opening weekend. But it managed to come back strong from the first Monday thanks to the positive reviews and has minted Rs 12 crore from its theatrical run at the Kerala Box Office, so far.

Sultan

Salman Khan's Sultan has completed its 50-day run at the Kerala Box Office. Upon its release, the film almost overpowered other Eid releases - except Kasaba.

At most multiplexes, the wrestling drama has overshadowed Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum and Karinkunnam Sixes at most Kerala multiplexes. The film is on its final legs in Kerala and now holds the title of Kerala's biggest Bollywood blockbuster of all-time.

While the Eid releases have ended their 50-day run, this week's releases, Pretham and Inspector Dawood Ibrahim (IDI) - both Jayasurya-starrers - are expected to dominate the Kerala Box Office in the third week as well.
