Mohanlal's Malayalam film, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has completed 50-theatrical days at the Kerala Box office. The film, which had released on January 20, marked the collaboration of Mohanlal - Meenu after the 2015 blockbuster Drishyam. Written by Sindhu Raj and directed by Vellimoonga fame Jibu Jacob, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has been produced by the maker of Bangalore Days, Sophia Paul under her home banner Weekend Blockbusters.

Upon its release, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol had stiff competition from Dulquer Salmaan starrer Jomonte Suviseshangal and Bollywood films, Shah Rukh Khan's Raees and Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil. But the Lalettan starrer easily overpowered all the films to become the first clean blockbuster at the Kerala box office. The film also emerged as the second fastest Malayalam film to complete 10000 shows in Kerala.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol's successful run has continued overseas as well.

At the UK and USA box office, the Mohanlal starrer crossed the Rs. 1 crore mark in opening weekend itself. And at the UAE Box Office, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has already grossed Rs. 10 crore from 17-theatrical days. The film is now actor's second film in a row after Pulimurugan to do the same.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has so far made more than Rs. 50 crore worldwide to emerge the actor's fifth Rs. 50 crore blockbuster after Drishyam, Janatha Garage, Oppam and Pulimurugan.
