Kerala Box Office: Prithviraj's James And Alice has a lukewarm day one

Last Friday saw the release of the Prithviraj-starrer, James and Alice.

Touted to be a family entertainer, James and Alice is Prithviraj's third release of the year. Written by Dr S Janardhanan and produced by Dr S Saji Kumaar and Krishnan Sethukumar, James and Alice marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev.

But in what is bound to spell trouble for the makers, James and Alice opened to a lukewarm response at the ticket windows.

The Malayalam film raked in disappointing Box Office collections of Rs 75 lakh on its opening day. The poor response came as a huge shock to the industry as the opening figures are the worst for a Prithviraj-starrer in recent years.

The actor's last release, Darwinte Parinamam, had minted more than Rs 1 crore plus at the Box Office despite being an average fare.

The clash with Suriya starrer 24 has worked against the film.

James and Alice features Prithviraj playing the role of James, an actor-turned-ad filmmaker. Tamil actress Vedhika plays his love interest Alice, a banking professional. The film chronicles the story of a married couple who are torn apart by their busy personal lives. Baby Akshara Kishore of the popular Malayalam TV show, Karuthamuthu, will be seen essaying the role of their daughter in the film. The film also stars Parvathy Nair of Yennai Arindhal fame.

James and Alice is Prithviraj's third release of the year after Pavada and Darwinte Parinamam.

The reports of the film were also mixed, which indicates that James and Alice will find it tough to put healthy numbers on Sunday at the Box Office.
