Dulquer Salmaan's Thursday release Solo has opened to good collection on its opening day at the Kerala Box Office. The film, jointly produced by Abraham Mathew and Anil Jain, marks the Malayalam debut of director Bejoy Nambiar of Shaitan, David and Amitabh Bachchan's Wazir.

Solo was released in a record number of 225 screens to become the biggest ever Malayalam release in Kerala. The film was expected to break the top two Malayalam opening day records set by Dulquer's father Mammootty starrer The Great Father and Mohanlal blockbuster Pulimurugan. However, Solo fails to cross the opening day collections of the two Big M's of Malayalam cinema. In fact, Solo fails to beat Mohanlal's 2017 Onam release, Velipadinte Pusthakam despite releasing in more screens.

On its opening day, Solo had minted Rs. 3.42 crore to become the sixth Malayalam opener at the Kerala Box Office. However, Solo has emerged as Dulquer Salmaan's biggest opener till date.

Solo also stars an ensemble star cast including Neha Sharma, Dino Morea, Sai Tamhankar, Dhansika, Nassar, Deepti Sati, Sruthi Hariharan and Arthi Venkatesh.

Check out the top openers at Kerala Box Office:

Baahubali 2 - Rs. 6.27 crore
The Great Father - Rs. 4.31 crore
Kabali - Rs. 4.27 crore
Pulimurugan - 4.05 crore Velipadinte Pusthakam - 3.75 crore
