Vamsi Paidipally's Tamil drama Thozha has finished one month of its theatrical run. Remade in Telugu as Oopiri, the film is still running to packed houses. And now, according to the latest update from the Tollywood industry, Bollywood director-producer Karan Johar has purchased the remake rights of the film.

Karan Johar, who's known for making family dramas in Hindi cinema, is reportedly impressed with the film's emotional content and the performance of lead actress Tamannaah Bhatia in the film. He's also considering to retain the Baahubali actress in the Hindi remake as well. Tamannaah was last seen in Bollywood with Akshay Kumar in 2014's hit Entertainment.

Oopiri is also an official remake of French drama film The Intouchables. The family drama also stars Nagarjuna, Karthi, Prakash Raj, and  Jaya Sudha.

The film also marked the Tollywood debut of Tamil actor Karthi. Oopiri was a big success at the Box Office.
