Kabali: Rajinikanth film teaser sets yet another record on YouTube

The much-awaited Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali is slated to hit the screens on 22 July.

The teaser of the film, which was unveiled on YouTube, is breaking one record after another. After having become the first teaser of an Indian film to cross the 20 million YouTube views mark, the Thalaiva film teaser has now crossed the coveted 25 million views mark - the first Asian film to do so.

The one minute, six seconds teaser reintroduces audiences to the Thalaiva as he reprises one of his best loved avatars - that of a whip-smart action hero. Kabali features Rajinikanth in the role of a gangster - one that seems to be tailor-made to include some of the superstar's popular mannerisms. The teaser also features the trademark laugh and the phrase, Kabali Da, delivered by Thalaiva himself and has gone viral across across India. The teaser ends with a shot of Rajinikanth from the 1970s, where he's seen walking out of a restaurant, flipping his hair back in his inimitable fashion.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Kabali will have special premieres on 21 July across major cities in Tamil Nadu. The film is scheduled to premiere in Malaysia on the same day. The Pa Ranjith directorial also stars Radhika Apte, Kalaiarasan, Dinesh and Ritwika.
