The second trailer of Mani Ratnam's 'Kaatru Veliyidai' has been released. Written, produced and directed by Mani Ratnam himself, the film stars Suriya's brother Karthi and Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari as the main leads. Kaatru Veliyidai also marks the 25th collaboration of Mani Ratnam - AR Rahman duo and the Tamil debut of Aditi.

Kaatru Veliyidai will see Karthi playing the role of an NRI pilot who falls in love with a doctor.

Speaking at the second trailer launch, Karthi had urged his audience not to expect the kind of romance in Kaatru Veliyidai like they had watched in Mani Ratnam's earlier hits Alai Payuthey and OK Kanmani.

Karthi said;

"Kaatru Veliyidai is not a breezy romance; don’t come expecting another Alaipayuthey or OK Kanmani. It’s a different take on romance. It’s not all going to be like Azhagiye…(song from Kaatru Veliyidai) throughout.".

Meanwhile, Mani Ratnam stated that his upcoming film will be a tribute to Indian Air Force.

The six-time-national-award-winning director was quoted as saying, "I would like to extend my my heartfelt gratitude to our armed forces. While shooting in Ladakh and Leh in extreme climatic conditions, we used to see Jawans and their vehicles patrolling and realised how hard they work. Kaatru Veliyidai is a tribute to our Indian Army Force".

Kaatru Veliyidai also stars Delhi Ganesh, Vipin Sharma, Shraddha Srinath, RJ Balaji and KPAC Lalitha.
