It's official: Thalapathy Vijay's Mersal crosses Rs 200 crore, emerges as sixth South film to do so

It's official now. Thalapathy Vijay's Mersal has crossed the coveted Rs.200 crore mark at the Box Office worldwide. The film, which had released on October 18, on the occasion of Diwali set the Box Office on fire by becoming the all-time highest opener at the Tamil Nadu Box Office.

On Monday, the Thalapathy starrer crossed the double century mark to become the sixth South film to do so. Also, Vijay is now the fourth South film actor to have a Rs. 200 crore grosser after Thalaivar Rajinikanth, Vikram and Prabhas.

Meanwhile, Mersal has emerged as the top non-Malayalam grosser at the Kerala Box Office. Directed by Atlee and produced Sri Thenandal Films, the action entertainer starred the Tamil superstar in triple roles. Mersal also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen and Samantha and had music by Oscar award winning composer AR Rahman.
