Surya's 24 has completed it's one-week theatrical run at the worldwide Box Office. After a strong opening weekend, the science-fiction thriller has dropped throughout the weekdays. The film was expected to break the opening week collection of Vijay's Theri, which raked in more than Rs 100 crore worldwide on it's opening week.
However, 24 failed to cross the Theri's collection despite releasing simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. At the end of the first week, 24 collected Rs 75 crore at Box Office, which is good, yet an average performance for a Suriya starrer. Despite the excellent word-of-mouth, the film struggled to put up good numbers at the Box Office. The Vikram Kumar directorial has reportedly grossed a decent Rs 22 crore from the Tamil Nadu Box Office.
However, the Telugu version of the film was extraordinary, and made Rs 16 crore at the Andhra Pradesh Box Office, which is touted to be the all-time highest ever for a Suriya starrer in the state. The film has pocketed Rs 5 crore in the Sandalwood Box Office and nearly Rs 8 crore in Kerala.
The Tamil superstar's film has also fared well in international markets, collecting over Rs 24 crore at the overseas Box Office in its first week.
24 has reportedly earned a decent Rs 40 crore distributor share from its worldwide first week theatrical run.
Touted as a Tamil - Telugu bilingual film, 24 stars the Ghajini superstar in a triple role - Athreya, Mani, and Sethuraman. Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen are paired opposite Suriya in the film. The film is directed and written by Vikram Kumar and produced by Suriya, under his home banner, 2D Entertainment. The music has been composed by AR Rahman.
