It's known that South film actress Anushka Shetty turned down Karan Johar's offer to make her Bollywood debut in one of the upcoming films of Dharma Productions. Though the exact reason is yet-tot-be revealed, there are reports that the superstar is not happy with the character written for her in the film.

However, many are still unaware that the Baahubali actress was initially offered by none other than hit maker Rohit Shetty to essay the female lead opposite Ajay Devgn in two of the duo's earlier hits Golmaal 3 and Singham. In 2015, Anushka Shetty was offered to star opposite Imtiaz Ali's romantic drama Tamasha alongside Ranbir Kapoor. Similar to her current decision to turn down the Karan Johar project, Anushka Shetty also rejected the offer citing that she was unhappy over the role of female lead in the film, later portrayed by Deepika Padukone.

Meanwhile, Anushka Shetty's upcoming film Bhaagamathie is slated to release on the auspicious occasion of Sankranthi 2018. The horror-thriller directed by G Ashok also marks the second Telugu outing of Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan.
