Last week's Friday release, Thala Ajith's Vivegam has taken an earth shattering response on its opening weekend at the Chennai Box Office. The action-thriller, which starred the Tamil superstar in the titular role of Ajay Kumar, was unshakable even after getting negative reviews from the critics.

On its 4-day opening weekend, Vivegam has minted a whopping Rs. 5.20 crore at the Chennai Box Office to become the all-time biggest opener in the history of Tamil cinema. The Thala starrer also emerged as the only Tamil film to mint Rs. 1 crore each in the first 4-theatrical days at the Chennai Box Office. With a massive opening weekend, Vivegam has smashed the opening weekend records set by SS Rajamouli - Prabhas blockbuster Baahubali 2 and Thalapathy Vijay's Bairavaa as well.

Vivegam marks the third collaboration between Ajith and director Siva after the blockbuster Veeram and Vedalam. The film also featured Kajal Aggarwal, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi and Kamal Haasan daughter Akshara Haasan.
