The first look of Mammootty's Kasaba is out. The film will see Mammootty play the role of Rajan Zachariah, a soft-natured Circle Inspector.

The poster features Mammootty in a police uniform sporting green RayBan glasses. The poster, featuring the 64-year old actor, has garnered attention across social media.

The film is the debut venture of Nithin Renji Panicker, the son of screenwriter-turned-actor Renji Panicker.

Tamil actor Sampath Raj has been roped in to play the antagonist in the film. Kasaba marks the Malayalam movie debut of Kannada actresses Neha Saxena and Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar, the daughter of Tamil actor Sarath Kumar. The movie was shot at Kochi, Bangalore, and Palani.

Nithin, who has earlier worked as assistant director to Shaji Kailas, said his film will be an action flick, but different from his father's style of films, best known for their memorable dialogues. Rahul Raj has composed the music for the film, which will be produced by Alice Joseph under the banner, Good Will Entertainments.

Kasaba is slated to hit the screens on Ramadan 2016, thus paving the path for the biggest clash in recent times at the Kerala Box Office. The Mammooty flick will go head-to-head with the Mohanlal-starrer Pulimurugan.
