After working on the horror film, Kashmora; actor Karthi is currently undertaking a flight training crash course. The actor is learning to fly a plane in order to prepare for his character of a pilot in Mani Ratnam's untitled Tamil romantic drama.
"Karthi is learning the basics of flying, which includes even simple things like how to be seated while in the pilot's seat. It will be a 2-3 weeks crash course and upon completion, the makers will finally take the film on the floors," a source from the film's unit told IANS.
The Mani Ratnam film will see Karthi play the character of an NRI man who falls in love with a doctor - played by Aditi Rao Hydari - while on a trip to India. Actress Sai Pallavi was initially roped in for the role but plans failed to materialise.
The shooting for the project is scheduled to start this June. The team is eyeing a year-end release.
Produced by Ratnam's Madras Talkies, the film will have music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Varman.
