Clean 'U' certificate for Theri, Ilayathalapathy film set for a massive release on 14 April, 2016

The censor board has cleared the much-awaited Vijay movie, Theri. Much to the delight of Ilayathalapathy fans, the film has got a clean 'U' certificate from the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC).The film's censor certificate had created headlines and became a trending topic on Twitter and other social networking sights.

Bagging a 'U' certificate was a must for this film as Theri is Vijay's 10th film in a row after Sura, Kaavalan, Velayudham, Nanban, Thuppakki, Thalaivaa, Jilla, Kaththi, and Puli. Reportedly, the film's run time is 155 mins (2 hour 35 minutes).

Theri is set for a grand release on 14 April, 2016. In fact, it will be the biggest release ever for a Vijay starrer with 2,000 plus screens across the country. Recently, the theatrical rights of the film have been sold for a record-breaking price of Rs 5.60 crore to Friday Film House and Carnival Motion Pictures, two of the biggest distributors in Kerala.

Meanwhile, Theri's teaser has crossed 10 million views on YouTube, only the second Tamil film after Sankar's I to do so. Touted as a family entertainer from director Atlee, Theri stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson as well. The online booking has started a month in advance and the response so far has been terrific.
