The Jayaram-starrer Aadupuliyattam, which released on 20 May, took the Box Office by surprise. Many expected the film to be an average fare, considering the fact that Jayaram has not had a single hit in any of his previous ten releases.
However, Kannan Thamarakkulam's second directorial outing with Jayaram has worked wonders for the veteran actor.
The film faced tough competition from Dulquer Salmaan's Kammattipadam which released on same day.
However, the horror flick, starring Sheelu Abraham, Asha Sarath, Siddique and Baahubali actress, Ramya Krishnan, managed to hold on its own and impress the Box Office.
Aadupuliyattam is a joint production venture of Haseeb Haneef and Noushad Alathur under the banner of Grand Film Corporation. The two had approached anchor-turned-actress Jewel Mary to play the female lead. However, the Utopiayile Rajavu actress rejected the role, saying that she was not ready to be paired opposite Jayaram.
She also asked the producers to replace the veteran Jayaram with the younger Fahadh Faasil. Jewel Mary's statements came as a shock and the producers decided to replace her with Sheelu Abraham.
The rest, as they say, is history. In a filmy twist, the producers Haneef and Alathur are now planning a party to celebrate the success of the film. And the two have taken to their Facebook pages to cheekily invite Jewel Mary to be the chief guest of the celebrations.
