24 Box Office: Suriya may have struck Box Office gold with sci-fi thriller

​Suriya's much-anticipated 24 opened to audiences this Friday.

The film, directed and written by Vikram Kumar, has recorded collections of Rs 20 crore from nearly 2,100 screens.

According to reports, the film, which released simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, collected Rs 6 crore from Tamil Nadu - making it the second highest Tamil Box Office opener of 2016 after Vijay's Theri.

The Telugu version of the film minted Rs 4 crore from Andhra Pradesh centres. The film also had a good opening in Kerala, where it raked in Rs 1.50 crore.

24 has done remarkable business at the international markets as well. The film minted Rs 3 crore at the US Box Office and Rs 5.5 crore from the remaining overseas markets on its opening day, including the UAE and the UK.

The film has garnered overwhelming response and the collections are likely to pick up over the weekend.

The film also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen. The music has been composed by AR Rahman.

Produced by Suriya, under his home banner 2D Entertainment, the 24 was reportedly made on a budget of Rs. 80 crore.
