Woman constable killed over dowry in UP's Muzaffarnagar

A woman constable was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and in-laws over dowry in Khatauli town of Muzaffarnagar, the police said on 3 August.

Based on the complaint filed by Ompal Singh, Renu's father, his daughter was beaten to death by her husband and her in-laws over dowry in Meerut yesterday, Station House Officer of Khatauli police station, Sunil Kumar said.

She got married to Kapil Kumar, a computer engineer, in 2014, the SHO said.Renu, posted at Khatauli police station, was admitted to Anand Hospital in Meerut by her in-laws where she died on 2 August, he said.

Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against Kapil, his father Virendra, mother Kusum and brother Vikrant, he said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, the SHO said, adding that the matter is being investigated.
