Winter Session: TMC MP Nusrat Jahan fails to attend Parliament due to health issue

Actor and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP from West Bengal's Basirhat Nusrat Jahan failed to attend the Parliament session on Monday due to health issues.

According to reports, the MP has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in Kolkata yesterday after she complained of breathing problems.


While Nusrat's family member rubbished reports that claimed that she was admitted to the hospital following medicine overdose, the actor's spokesperson Abhishek Majumdar said that Nusrat will be released from the hospital later today.


The Winter Session is scheduled to go on till December 13 and will provide a total of 20 sittings spread over a period of 26 days, including four Private Members' days.

The Citizenship Bill, which the BJP seeks to pass with the aim of granting citizenship to non-Muslims from neighboring countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who came to India before December 31, 2014, will be taken up during the proceedings of the House.


Worth mentioning here that the famous Bengali actress, Nusrat made her political debut after winning the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Basirhat constituency in West Bengal. Later, Nusrat tied the knot with Kolkata-based businessman Nikhil Jain in the Turkish town of Bodrum in June, 2019.
