Why is there no investigation against PM Modi's industrialist friends, asks Rahul Gandhi

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi addressed party workers in Bhiwandi soon after he was granted bail by Maharashtra court on 16 November in a criminal defamation case filed against him for claiming that the RSS had killed Mahatma Gandhi.

In his address, Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for favouring 15 businessmen and running the government on their instructions.

During his speech, he raised the issue of why there was no investigation taking place against "Modiji's industrialist friends" and asked, if anyone had seen "any rich people standing there?(in bank and ATM queues)"

Rahul Gandhi also pointed out the contradiction in the present government's ideology saying that he was fighting against all those who want to suppress the common man of India.

He said," ek taraf azaadi ki vichardhara; dusre taraf gulami ki; jinse main ladh raha hoon woh Hindustan ke har vyakti ko jhukana chahte hain."

Earlier, on 15 November, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over the scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes and said that the demonetisation move had resulted in massive inconvenience for the people.

He also dubbed the move as a scam and said that at some point of time "this scam will get exposed".

He had said that the decision to ban high value currency notes was based on one person's thinking and was not thought through. He had also accused the prime minister of letting the big black money players go scot free adding that "Mallya and Lalit Modi were sitting in abroad."

Rahul Gandhi also criticised the prime minister for mocking the condition of people standing in long bank and ATM queues.

He said, "couple of days back, PM was laughing in his speech, then next day he was crying. He should decide what he wants to do."
