TMC Murshidabad district General Secretary Subir Sarkar has been shot at by unidentified assailants near his home in West Bengal on Thursday morning.
He is admitted to Baharampur district hospital.
The TMC leader has sustained injures on his head, hand and chest, as indicated by media reports.
TMC has alleged that Congress-CPI(M) alliance is involved in the attack on its leader.
Voting for the sixth and the final phase of state Assembly elections is currently underway amid tight security. Twenty five seats, including 16 in Purba Medinipur and nine in Coochbehar districts have gone to polls under this phase.
