The Shiv Sena on 11 October tore into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over its claims on 'leading' the gram panchayat polls, likening 'victory' (Vijay in hindi) to a person and saying that 'Vijay' had gone berserk.

"Vijay pagal ho gaya hai aur logo ne vijay ki pitai ki hai. (Victory has gone berserk and people have bashed the victory)," said an editorial in the Shiv Sena mouthpiece, 'Saamna'.

"The results in the gram panchayat elections show a mixed trend, but it seems that the condition that farmers are in and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hasty decisions concerning loan waivers, might not take the BJP a long way," the Shiv Sena said.

The Shiv Sena added that they seem to be victorious in Sambhaji Nagar, and that BJP is lagging behind in party leader Raosaheb Danve's district.

"The BJP seems to be lagging behind in the Akola district as well, while the Shiv Sena is winning in the Jalgaon district," the Shiv Sena's mouthpiece asserted.

The Shiv Sena said that the farmers haven't stopped committing suicide as prices are increasing day by day.

"Farmers' loans haven't been forgiven and even today farmers' suicide haven't stopped. The prices are at its peak, while education is getting destroyed," the Shiv Sena said.

It added that despite the fact that Anganwadi workers have stopped protesting, they are not satisfied.

The Shiv Sena asserted that BJP is "claiming" to be ahead in the gram panchayat polls and added, "The BJP is so attentive on the social media, then why is it ignoring the plight of the farmers?"

The Shiv Sena also said that the party just cares about winning the elections and has only showed slogans and words.

The BJP, on 9 October, had claimed that it has won the largest number of sarpanch posts in the recently concluded first phase of Gram Panchayat elections even though, according to the State Election Commission, these polls are not fought over symbols of any political party.
