He was brought to CBI's Hazratganj office at Lucknow at 4:30 am on Friday. According to report, CBI took over the Unnao rape case from the UP Police on Thursday night within hours of the papers reaching Delhi from Lucknow as the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) is said to have intervened to hasten the formalities and the DoPT which works under the Prime Minister immediately issued a notification in this regard.
According to report the Allahabad High Court said it will monitor the investigation into the Unnao rape case. The CBI will investigate three cases filed against Sengar in Unnao, 50 kilometres from state capital Lucknow.

According to report, Of the three First Information Reports or FIRs, the first has Sengar as accused in the rape case. The second FIR is on rioting, in which four locals have been booked, and also the alleged killing of the victim's father in judicial custody. Since the murder charge was added later by the police, it does not reflect in the central probe agency's FIR.
The BJP MLA has been charged under the stringent POCSO Act and sections of the Indian Penal Code or IPC dealing with rape.
This incident came into limelight when the victim, along with her family members, had tried to commit suicide in front of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence on April 8 in Lucknow, alleging that she was raped by Sengar and his fellow accomplices.
