On the night of 13 May, two Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawans were reportedly shot at, while they were on duty, by six unknown miscreants in the Mughal Sarai- Buxar passenger train. While one RPF jawan succumbed, the other was severely injured. The unidentified men looted their INSAS rifles as well.
The jawans, identified as Abhishek Singh and Nandlal Yadav, were rushed to a hospital, where Singh was declared dead.
Yadav has been referred to a hospital in Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh. His condition is said to be serious.

Railway Superintendent of Police Jitendra Mishra reached here this morning to take stock of the situation.
It is believed that the culprits were professionals and their intention was to loot the rifles.
