The BJP's Chief Minister face of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb, 48, currently the chief of Tripura BJP. Deb is leading in Banamalipur assembly constituency agaisnt CPM in Agartala.

The BJP has closely destroyed the 25 year-long communist rule in the North-East state, Tripura and ended the unbroken 20-year-long government of Manik Sarkar as the longest serving chief minister.

“He is the front runner for the CM’s post and our pre-election surveys showed he had a popularity rating higher than Sarkar,” a BJP general secretary said.
“He worked closely with the BJP and the RSS to end the CPM’s hegemony in Tripura. He is an organizational man, trained in the RSS, and has a no-nonsense image in the BJP,” another office bearer of the BJP said.
Deb is being trained by RSS as a volunteer, who was a gym instructor by profession in Delhi when he migrated to Delhi for high eductions about 15 years ago. In the RSS Deb is trained by Sunil Doedhar, the BJP's Prabhari for Tripura. The Veteran, KN Govindacharya is his mentor in the outfit.

Before moving to Tripura as a party President, Deb has assisted Ganesh Singh, the BJP's MP from Madhya Pradesh's Satna Lok Sabha seat. His wife is a deputy manager with the Parliament House branch of the SBI and the duo survive with two children.

Deb is the young CM candidate and a local face hence BJP took a calculated move and send him to Tripura as state chief. However, no doubt Deb is the man behind the massive win of the party in the Tripura Assembly and defeating to the leading Left Front rule in the state.

The part's national chief has not yet confirmed about the proposal to appoint him as the CM-face and said discussion would be done after Party wins the Assembly polls.
