A two-and-a-half year old girl was rescued after she fell into a 300-feet deep borewell in Gujarat's Surendranagar district. She later succumbed to her injuries while being treated at a hospital.
The parents of the toddler raised alarm after she fell into the borewell in Juna Ghanshyamagadh village in Dhrangadhra taluk late on 25 April. They informed the village chief, who in-turn sought the help of district administration.
Soon, a team comprising of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) personnel, police and fire department officials rushed to the spot and began the rescue operations using oxygen cylinders, ropes and cameras.
The child was retrieved from the 300-feet deep borewell after a five-hour-long rescue operation. She was then rushed to a nearby hospital where she breathed her last.
