Telangana Honour Killing: Young girl killed, burnt by parents and ashes thrown away for marrying man from other caste

In another honour killing incident, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her parents in Telangana for marrying a man of her choice from another caste. The heinous killing incident took place took place on Saturday night in Kalamadugu village of Mancherial district, about 250 km from Hyderabad.

“P Anuradha's parents killed her with the help of a few of their relatives, burnt the body and threw the ashes in a stream,” said the police.

The accused father attenna and mother Laxmi were angry with their daughter for marrying a man from a lower caste. The accused parents have been arrested.

The incident came to light on Sunday after police took up the investigation on a complaint by Anuradha's husband A Laxman. “Laxman and Anuradha, both residents of the same village, were in love. As Anuradha's family opposed the relationship, the couple eloped to Hyderabad, where they married at Arya Samaj temple on December 3,” police said.

The couple reached the village on Saturday after 20 days. When Anuradha’s parents and her relatives came to know about it they attacked Laxman's house and forcibly took away Anuradha.

The investigation revealed that the Anuradha’s parent took her to a place near Mallapur village n Nirmal district and killed her. They allegedly burnt the body and dumped the ashes in a stream to remove the evidence.
