A 23-year-old police aspirant was allegedly raped, filmed and blackmailed by three of her batchmates for almost two weeks in Telangana's Karimnagar district.

According to NDTV, the victim and the accused - G Srinivas, M Anjaiah and M Rakesh - were taking coaching classes to join the police force. They reportedly raped her and filmed the act.

They blackmailed her, threatening to post the video clip on social media and continued to assault her for over 10 days, police reports added. The Karimnagar Superintendent of Police told news agencies that the incident took place on the outskirts of Veenavanka village on 10 February.

"The two women and the three men had left the coaching centre together. The accused took the two women to a hillock and of the women sensed danger and ran away while the other was trapped," he said.

According to police reports, the woman told her parents about the incident two days ago, after which a rape complaint was filed.

The accused have also been charged under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Information Technology Act.

Angry villagers reportedly beat up the accused on 24 February after which the three were admitted to a hospital in the neighbouring Warangal district. A complaint has also been registered against the villagers for assault.
